In Ujjain, devotees are protesting after the administration conducted a night scan of an ancient standing Hanuman idol that has been kept in a tent for 55 days due to road widening.
A dispute has erupted in Ujjain, Madhya Pradesh, regarding the status of an ancient standing Hanuman idol. The deity, originally from a temple removed for road widening projects, has been housed in a temporary tent for 55 days.
Tensions rose after local administration officials arrived at the site during the night to conduct a scanning operation on the idol. This move has drawn sharp criticism from devotees who view the action as disrespectful and unnecessary.
Devotees are demanding that the idol be immediately returned to its original location rather than being kept in temporary storage. They argue that the prolonged stay in a tent and the secretive nature of the night-time scan are causing distress to the faithful.
The incident highlights the ongoing friction between urban development projects and religious sentiments in the holy city of Ujjain, with locals calling for a transparent resolution to the matter.
