Samajwadi Party leader Akhilesh Yadav condemned BJP following its defeat in the Uttar Pradesh Legislative Council polls, blaming alleged electoral tampering and praising teachers and young voters for their role.
The Uttar Pradesh Legislative Council elections held on 12 September saw the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) suffer a significant setback, losing a number of seats that had been considered safe.
Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav seized the moment to criticize the BJP, alleging that the ruling party had engaged in electoral manipulation to secure votes. He urged voters to remain vigilant in future contests.
Yadav also highlighted the contribution of teachers and young voters, crediting them for helping the opposition secure victories in several constituencies. He called for unity among marginalized communities, emphasizing that their collective strength would shape the political landscape.
The leader framed the loss as a warning for the BJP and a strategic advantage for the Samajwadi Party ahead of the 2027 Uttar Pradesh assembly elections, suggesting that the current defeat could set the stage for a stronger comeback.
