The Rajasthan Food Safety Department seized over 3 tonnes of suspicious mustard oil and 209 kg of ghee during Diwali raids in the agricultural produce market area. Four samples have been sent for laboratory testing.

In a crackdown on food adulteration ahead of the festive season, the Rajasthan Food Safety Department conducted raids in the agricultural produce market area. The operation was specifically targeted at ensuring consumer safety during the Diwali celebrations.

During the inspection, officials seized a total of 3,133 kilograms of suspicious mustard oil. Additionally, 209 kilograms of ghee were confiscated from the premises. The authorities cited concerns regarding the quality and authenticity of these edible oils.

To verify the findings, four samples of the seized items have been forwarded to a laboratory for detailed analysis. The results of this testing will determine the extent of any potential adulteration or safety violations.

The department emphasized that such strict monitoring is essential to protect public health, particularly during high-demand periods like Diwali when consumption of ghee and cooking oils increases significantly.
