Delhi-NCR has rolled out new pollution control measures that ban older vehicles, mandate a 50% work‑from‑home policy for many employees, and impose stricter commute restrictions.
Delhi-NCR authorities have introduced a comprehensive set of pollution control rules aimed at curbing air quality deterioration in the region. The new regulations prohibit the use of older vehicles—those that do not meet the latest emission standards—from operating within the Delhi-NCR boundaries.
In addition to vehicle restrictions, the policy mandates that at least 50% of employees in many sectors work from home, a move designed to reduce daily traffic volumes and associated emissions.
The rules also impose stricter commute curbs, limiting the number of vehicles allowed on the road during peak hours and encouraging the use of public transport and non‑motorised modes. Officials say the measures will be monitored closely to assess their impact on air quality and traffic congestion.
