An NDA leader criticised the opposition’s rally at Delhi’s Ramleela Maidan, questioning Rahul Gandhi’s stance on electoral outcomes.
Delhi's historic Ramleela Maidan became the venue for an opposition rally on Saturday, drawing a sharp rebuke from the ruling National Democratic Alliance. Senior NDA figure Rajiv Ranjan, speaking at a press briefing, accused the opposition of silence when they win and relentless questioning when they lose, citing the rally as an example.
Ranjan’s remarks specifically singled out Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, suggesting that his criticism of the government is selective and politically motivated. The NDA spokesperson added that the rally, organized by a coalition of opposition parties, was an attempt to politicise a public space traditionally used for cultural events.
The opposition, however, defended the gathering as a legitimate exercise of democratic rights, emphasizing that the rally was meant to mobilise voters ahead of upcoming elections. No incidents of violence or police intervention were reported during the event.
Election Commission officials confirmed that the rally complied with the required permissions, and they are monitoring the political climate as the election season intensifies.
