Punjab authorities have initiated a vigilance investigation into the disappearance of land records covering 14 villages in Ludhiana district.

The district administration of Ludhiana, in coordination with the Punjab Vigilance Department, has opened a formal probe into the disappearance of land records for fourteen villages in the region. The investigation was announced today following reports of missing documentation that could affect property ownership and revenue assessments.

Officials said the missing records pertain to land parcels that were previously digitised and stored at local revenue offices. The loss has raised concerns among farmers and landholders who rely on these documents for legal proof of ownership and for accessing government schemes.

The vigilance team will audit existing archives, interview affected villagers, and trace the chain of custody for the missing files. Preliminary findings will be reported to senior state officials, and any irregularities uncovered could lead to disciplinary action or criminal proceedings.

This move reflects a broader effort by the Punjab government to strengthen transparency in land administration and curb potential fraud in the state's agrarian sector.
