Rescue teams have retrieved two unidentified bodies from the avalanche‑hit trek in Uttarkashi, while six trekkers remain missing.
Rescue personnel operating in Uttarkashi, Uttarakhand, have recovered two unidentified bodies from a recent avalanche that struck a trekking group of eight. The two bodies were found after search teams combed the snow‑covered slope where the incident occurred.
Six members of the same trekking party are still unaccounted for. Teams from the state disaster management department, along with local volunteers, continue to scour the area despite challenging weather and deep snow, hoping to locate the missing trekkers.
Authorities have warned that the region is prone to sudden avalanches during the winter months, urging trekkers to heed official advisories and avoid high‑risk zones. The ongoing operation underscores the difficulty of rescue work in the Himalayan terrain.
