The state government handed over two new water‑treatment facilities in Ghanaur constituency, equipped with testing labs and SCADA control, to provide safe drinking water to 316 villages.

The Punjab government formally inaugurated two water‑treatment plants in the Ghanaur assembly area on Monday, dedicating the facilities to the public after months of construction. The plants are positioned to serve a cluster of villages that have long struggled with unreliable water quality.

Each plant now houses a laboratory where water samples are examined both before and after treatment, ensuring that the output meets national safety standards. In addition, a SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) system has been installed to monitor and manage the treatment process and storage tanks in real time.

The combined capacity of the two plants is expected to benefit 316 villages across the constituency, delivering potable water for household and agricultural use. Officials said regular testing and automated monitoring will help maintain consistent water quality and reduce health risks associated with contaminated supplies.

Local representatives praised the project as a major step toward improving rural infrastructure and public health, urging communities to adopt water‑conservation practices alongside the new supply.
