Trekking operations in Uttarakhand have been suspended above 4,000 metres due to heavy snowfall, following the discovery of two bodies and the disappearance of six team members.
Trekking activities in the high-altitude regions of Uttarakhand have been temporarily suspended after a severe weather event led to a rescue operation. Authorities confirmed that two bodies were recovered from a trekking route, while six other members of the expedition team remain untraced.
The suspension of all trekking operations at altitudes exceeding 4,000 metres is a direct response to heavy snowfall that has made the terrain hazardous. Rescue teams are currently working to locate the missing individuals, though the extreme weather conditions pose significant challenges to search efforts.
Local administration and disaster management agencies have advised against any travel in the affected zones until the situation stabilizes. The incident highlights the risks associated with high-altitude trekking during the winter season in the Himalayan region.
