The Indore Central Museum has been closed for 157 days following a decision by city authorities to undertake extensive maintenance and safety upgrades.
The Indore Central Museum was shut down today, marking the start of a 157‑day closure announced by municipal officials. The decision comes after a review of the building’s infrastructure highlighted the need for comprehensive repairs and safety upgrades.
City authorities said the work will address structural concerns, update fire‑safety systems, and improve accessibility for visitors. The museum’s curator noted that the renovations will enhance the preservation of the collection and provide a better experience once reopened.
The closure will affect local tourists and school groups that regularly visit the museum. Staff have been reassigned to temporary roles, and the museum’s website will provide updates on the progress and expected reopening date.
