Cyclone Arneb, which made landfall along the Andhra coast on 28 October, has weakened significantly. Meteorological Department says it will move north‑north‑west over the next 48 hours while continuing to lose strength.

Cyclone Arneb struck the Andhra coastline on 28 October, bringing heavy rains and strong winds to the region. After the landfall, the system weakened rapidly, dropping below cyclone intensity as it moved inland.

The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) reports that Arneb is now a weak depression. It is expected to drift north‑north‑west over the next 48 hours, gradually losing strength as it encounters cooler waters and higher wind shear.

While the cyclone’s core is no longer a major threat, peripheral rainbands may still affect the eastern coastal states. Authorities have urged residents in vulnerable areas to stay alert for sudden weather changes.

The IMD has issued a cyclone warning for the affected districts and advises that people take precautionary measures, especially those living in low‑lying coastal zones.
