A video showing a labourer manually carrying heavy construction blocks up 21 floors in a building equipped with four lifts has gone viral, sparking outrage over worker exploitation.
A video that has circulated widely on social media shows a construction worker struggling to carry heavy blocks up a staircase. The footage captures the labourer ascending 21 floors manually, a task made even more conspicuous by the presence of four functional lifts in the same building.
The incident has drawn sharp criticism from netizens and labour rights advocates, who question why modern infrastructure is not being utilized to ease the physical burden on workers. The contrast between the available technology and the manual labour being performed has been highlighted as a stark example of exploitation in the construction sector.
While the specific location of the incident is not explicitly detailed in the initial reports, the viral nature of the clip has prompted calls for regulatory authorities to investigate compliance with labour safety and welfare standards in high-rise construction projects. Authorities are expected to review the working conditions to ensure that such physically demanding tasks are not forced upon workers when mechanical aids are available.
