The Supreme Court has annulled the bail granted to former JD(U) leader Anant Singh in the Dularchand Yadav murder case, ordering him to surrender by December.
Former JD(U) leader Anant Singh, who was expelled from the party earlier this year, had been granted bail in the Dularchand Yadav murder case. The Supreme Court of India, however, has now revoked that bail, ruling that Singh must surrender to authorities by December.
The court’s order, issued on 12 October, cites the seriousness of the murder charge and the risk of flight. It also reiterates that bail was originally granted on the basis of certain conditions that Singh has allegedly failed to meet.
With the bail cancelled, Singh faces the possibility of detention pending trial. The court has instructed the Delhi Police to take custody of him and ensure he appears before the court as required.
Legal experts note that this move underscores the judiciary’s stance on high‑profile murder cases and signals that bail will not be a shield for those accused of serious crimes.
