The 6‑day ceasefire in Kherson, Ukraine, ended today, with Ukrainian officials warning that hostilities could become worse than before.
The ceasefire that had held in Kherson for six days officially ended on Tuesday, marking the longest pause in fighting in the Ukraine war to date.
A Ukrainian military officer, who chose to remain anonymous, cautioned that the resumption of hostilities could be more intense than the fighting that preceded the truce.
Kherson, a key port city on the Dnipro River, has been a focal point of the conflict since the war began, with both sides vying for control of the strategic location.
The end of the ceasefire comes amid ongoing negotiations, but the Ukrainian side remains concerned that the renewed clashes may lead to higher casualties and greater infrastructure damage.
