Veteran batsmen Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli have rejoined the Indian squad as the team begins its preparation camp in New Zealand ahead of the 2027 ODI World Cup.
India's cricket board has confirmed that senior batsmen Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli are back in the national side, marking the headline of the country's 2027 ODI World Cup preparation camp in New Zealand. The two players, who have been pivotal in India's recent successes, joined the squad for a series of training sessions and practice matches aimed at fine‑tuning the team ahead of the tournament.
The camp, held at New Zealand's high‑performance facilities, is part of a broader strategy to assess player form and build a balanced unit for the World Cup scheduled to be hosted by New Zealand in 2027. Coaches will use the opportunity to experiment with combinations and give the returning stars a chance to regain match rhythm.
Officials said the inclusion of Sharma and Kohli underscores the importance of experience as India looks to combine youth with proven talent. The team will continue its preparations with a mix of domestic and international fixtures before the World Cup qualifiers later next year.
