Rajasthan's Food Safety Department destroyed 625 kg of adulterated food items, including moldy kalakand and sour milk, in Kotkasim and other districts.

The Food Safety Department in Rajasthan has taken strict action against food adulteration, resulting in the destruction of 625 kilograms of unsafe food items. The crackdown was conducted across the Kherathal-Tijara and Bharatpur regions, targeting vendors selling contaminated products.

During the inspection in Kotkasim, officials seized a significant quantity of food that failed to meet safety standards. The confiscated items included kalakand (a traditional sweet) infested with dead flies and covered in mold, as well as sour milk and contaminated cream. These items were deemed unfit for human consumption.

The department emphasized that such adulterated goods pose serious health risks to consumers. The 625 kg of seized material was subsequently destroyed to prevent it from re-entering the market. Authorities stated that similar drives will continue to ensure food safety across the state.
