Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw inaugurated the inaugural Bengaluru‑Mumbai Vande Bharat Sleeper Express, which will stop at Anantapur, Guntakal, Raichur, Yadgir, Kalaburagi, Solapur, Pune and Kalyan.

Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw flagged off the first Bengaluru‑Mumbai Vande Bharat Sleeper Express on a ceremony held at the railway station in Bengaluru. The new service, which is part of the Vande Bharat family of high‑speed trains, offers overnight travel between the two major cities.

The train will make scheduled stops at Anantapur, Guntakal, Raichur, Yadgir and Kalaburagi in Karnataka, before crossing into Maharashtra where it will halt at Solapur, Pune and Kalyan. The route covers a distance of roughly 1,400 kilometres.

The introduction of a sleeper version of the Vande Bharat is aimed at providing a comfortable, time‑saving option for passengers travelling between the southern and western parts of the country. The train is expected to reduce travel time compared to conventional services.

The Ministry of Railways has said that the service will run daily and will be available for booking through the official railway reservation portal. It is part of a broader push to modernise India’s rail network with faster, more efficient trains.
