The Pune crime branch has arrested fourteen recently recruited constables accused of forging Kurash certificates used for their appointment.
The crime branch of Pune police announced the arrest of fourteen constables who had joined the force only a few months ago. The officers are alleged to have produced counterfeit Kurash certificates, a document required for their recruitment, in order to secure their positions.
Investigators say the forged certificates were part of a larger scheme to bypass standard vetting procedures. The case was uncovered after a routine verification of recruitment records raised discrepancies, prompting a focused probe by the crime branch.
Police officials have not disclosed the exact number of certificates involved or the identities of any accomplices beyond the arrested constables. The arrested personnel are currently in police custody and will face further questioning as the investigation proceeds.
The Pune crime branch has indicated that it will continue to scrutinise recruitment documentation across the department to prevent similar frauds in the future.
