The Odisha government has returned ₹69 crore in college fees to 111,000 students across the state, aiming to ease financial burdens and improve access to higher education.
The Odisha government has announced a refund of ₹69 crore in college fees to 111,000 students spread across the state. The amount, which covers fees paid for the current academic year, will be credited to students’ bank accounts by the end of the month.
The refund is part of a broader strategy to make higher education more affordable and to curb dropout rates. It follows earlier initiatives that offer free tuition and other financial support to students from economically weaker sections.
Officials have urged students to verify the refund details through the state’s official education portal and to ensure that their bank information is up to date. The move is expected to relieve a significant portion of the financial strain that many families face when sending their children to college.
