Bhopal-based mobile trader Raghav Kumar has filed his nomination for the Rajya Sabha by-election as an independent candidate, backed by the Congress party. He will contest against Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri.
A political contest has emerged in Madhya Pradesh's upcoming Rajya Sabha by-election as Raghav Kumar Lohani, a mobile business owner from Ghoda Nakka in Bhopal, has formally filed his nomination. Lohani is contesting the election as an independent candidate, marking a significant challenge to the ruling party's stronghold in the state's upper house representation.
The Congress party has extended its support to Lohani, aligning with his independent candidacy to counter the BJP's nominee. This strategic move by the opposition aims to consolidate votes against the incumbent Union Minister, Hardeep Singh Puri, who is the BJP's candidate for the seat.
The by-election is expected to see intense campaigning, with Lohani leveraging his local business connections and the Congress party's organizational strength. The outcome will be a key indicator of political dynamics in Madhya Pradesh ahead of future state and national elections.
