The Madhya Pradesh government has temporarily suspended over 30 official portals to address a severe vulnerability in PHP software, prioritizing cyber security.
Bhopal: The Madhya Pradesh government has taken decisive action to safeguard its digital infrastructure by temporarily shutting down more than 30 official web portals. This move was necessitated by the discovery of a critical vulnerability in the PHP software used by these platforms, posing a significant cyber security risk.
Initially, the state administration placed approximately 100 government websites on hold to assess the extent of the threat. Following a thorough technical review, officials identified specific security gaps that required immediate attention to prevent potential data breaches or unauthorized access.
As remediation efforts progressed, 70 of the affected websites were successfully upgraded and restored to service. The remaining 30-plus portals remain offline while final security patches are applied and tested to ensure robust protection against cyber threats.
The government emphasized that this precautionary step is essential to maintain the integrity of public services and protect sensitive data. Officials stated that the portals will be reactivated only after rigorous security audits confirm that the vulnerabilities have been completely resolved.
