Meitei groups rally in Imphal, backed by Naga bodies, demand end to SoO truce pact

A rally was organised in Imphal by several Meitei groups demanding the cancellation of the SoO truce pact. The gathering took place in the city centre and attracted a sizable crowd of supporters from the Meitei community.

The demonstration received explicit backing from Naga bodies, which publicly endorsed the Meitei groups' call for the pact’s abrogation. Representatives of the Naga organisations were seen marching alongside Meitei participants, signalling a rare alignment of the two ethnic groups on this issue.

The core demand of the rally was the complete revocation of the SoO truce agreement, which the participants argue no longer serves the interests of the Meitei community. Organisers reiterated that the pact should be annulled to address what they describe as ongoing grievances.

No official response was recorded at the time of reporting, and the rally concluded without any reported incidents of violence or disruption.
