During a meeting in Manipur, Congress leaders highlighted ongoing violence, demanded lasting peace and consulted senior party figures Mallikarjun Kharge and Rahul Gandhi on the party’s strategy for the 2027 state elections.

Manipur’s state unit of the Indian National Congress convened a high‑level meeting to address the surge in communal and ethnic violence that has plagued the region in recent weeks. Senior state leaders briefed the gathering on the latest incidents and reiterated the party’s demand for a durable peace settlement.

The participants condemned the recent attacks on civilians, urging the state administration and security forces to act decisively to restore law and order. They called on all political actors to refrain from inflammatory rhetoric and to cooperate in creating a safe environment for the electorate.

In the same session, the Manipur delegation sought guidance from national leaders Mallikarjun Kharge and Rahul Gandhi on formulating a comprehensive strategy for the 2027 state assembly elections. The senior leaders emphasized the need to project a peace‑focused narrative, strengthen grassroots outreach, and present a credible alternative to the incumbent government.

The meeting concluded with a consensus to launch a coordinated campaign that highlights the Congress’s commitment to ending violence and delivering development, ahead of the 2027 polls.
