Batteries from Safe City surveillance cameras in Ludhiana have been stolen, raising concerns about the continuity of the city's security monitoring system.
A security breach has been reported in Ludhiana, Punjab, where batteries powering the city's Safe City surveillance cameras have been stolen. The incident has left parts of the monitoring infrastructure non-operational, prompting immediate attention from local authorities.
The theft of these critical power components disrupts the continuous recording capabilities of the CCTV network, which is designed to enhance public safety and aid in crime investigation. While the specific number of affected cameras and the exact locations are being assessed, the removal of batteries renders the devices useless for real-time monitoring.
Local police and municipal officials are expected to investigate the incident to identify the perpetrators and recover the stolen items. This event highlights the vulnerability of public infrastructure components and underscores the need for stricter security measures around surveillance equipment in the city.
