Kapil Sibal Rebuts Kiren Rijiju’s ‘Pellet Gun’ Remark on Congress‑Era Protests

Senior Congress figure Kapil Sibal responded sharply on Thursday after Union Minister Kiren Rijiju suggested that pellet guns might have been used to disperse protests that took place under a Congress government. Sibal asked Rijiju to specify the incidents and evidence supporting the claim, emphasizing that the party had never sanctioned such measures. He warned that unfounded allegations could damage the credibility of both the opposition and the ruling coalition. The exchange comes amid heightened political rhetoric ahead of upcoming electoral battles, with both sides keen to shape narratives around past governance. No official response from the Ministry of Home Affairs has been recorded yet.
