Indian and European Union officials met to resolve practical issues in the pending free‑trade agreement before the planned signing ceremony in December.
New Delhi – Senior officials from India and the European Union convened this week to iron out practical challenges in the free‑trade agreement that is slated for formal signing in December. The dialogue focused on aligning regulatory frameworks, clarifying market‑access provisions and smoothing procedural steps that could affect the deal’s rollout.
Both sides emphasized the need to resolve outstanding implementation questions, such as rules of origin, standards harmonisation and mechanisms for dispute resolution, to ensure that the agreement translates into tangible trade flows once signed.
The meeting comes as both economies anticipate that the FTA could boost bilateral commerce, diversify supply chains and create new opportunities for exporters and service providers. With the signing deadline approaching, officials said they will continue to work closely to finalize the remaining technical details before the December ceremony.
