The Indian government has announced that trials for the International Digi Yatra system for Indian nationals will commence at seven airports this year, with a full rollout planned for 2027.

The Government of India has confirmed that pilot trials for the International Digi Yatra system will begin at seven selected airports within the current year. This initiative is specifically designed to facilitate the travel process for Indian nationals, aiming to enhance efficiency and reduce wait times at international checkpoints.

According to official statements, the system will undergo a phased implementation strategy. Following the initial trial phase at the seven designated locations, the government intends to expand the service to a wider network of airports by 2027. The move is part of a broader effort to modernize border management and improve the traveler experience for citizens traveling abroad.

The Digi Yatra program utilizes biometric technology to automate the immigration process. By allowing Indian passport holders to use facial recognition and other digital verification methods, the system seeks to streamline the entry and exit procedures at international airports. Officials have emphasized that the trials are crucial for testing the technology's reliability and speed before the nationwide expansion.
