Food Safety Department and Khamon Police busted a fake desi ghee manufacturing unit in a rented house on Bilaspur Road, seizing 286 kg of adulterated product.
Ludhiana: A significant crackdown on food adulteration was carried out on Sunday night in Ludhiana. Joint teams from the Food Safety Department and the Khamon Police uncovered an illegal factory producing fake desi ghee in a rented property located on Bilaspur Road.
The operation resulted in the seizure of 2 quintals and 86 kilograms of the counterfeit product. Investigators noted that the fake ghee was being packaged and supplied under the names of well-known brands to deceive consumers.
The authorities have taken control of the seized material and the production equipment. The incident highlights ongoing efforts by local law enforcement to curb the supply of adulterated dairy products in the region.
Further investigation is underway to trace the distribution network and identify the individuals responsible for operating this clandestine unit.
