Ludhiana police have issued a warning against cyber fraudsters using cheap Diwali gift offers to drain bank accounts.
Ludhiana police have issued a stern warning to residents as cybercriminals intensify their efforts to exploit the festive spirit of Diwali. Authorities have noted a surge in new tactics used by fraudsters to target individuals during the holiday season.
The primary concern highlighted by the police is the lure of inexpensive Diwali gifts. Cyber scammers are using these low-cost offers as bait to trick victims into sharing sensitive information or making unauthorized transactions, which can lead to the complete draining of their bank accounts.
Police officials have urged the public to remain vigilant and not fall for the temptation of such deals. They have advised citizens to verify the authenticity of online offers and to avoid clicking on suspicious links or sharing personal banking details with unverified entities.
This advisory comes as law enforcement agencies across the region ramp up their monitoring of digital platforms to prevent financial losses during the peak shopping period of the festival.
