Dheerendra Shastri Faces Backlash Over Ram–Krishna Comparison, Later Apologizes

Renowned Hindu monk Dheerendra Shastri, known for his spiritual discourses, recently drew criticism after making remarks that compared Lord Ram and Lord Krishna in a manner many found provocative. The comments were shared on social media and quickly spread across religious circles, leading to a wave of backlash from devotees and scholars alike. Critics argued that the comparison oversimplified complex theological distinctions and could inflame sectarian sentiments. In response to the growing outcry, Shastri issued a statement a few days later, expressing regret for the remarks and clarifying that his intention was not to disparage either deity. He apologized to the affected communities and pledged to be more mindful in future public addresses.
