Renovation Planned for Shivpuri of Durgiyāna Temple in Amritsar, Says Secretary Arun Khanna

The historic Durgiyāna Temple in Amritsar, a prominent place of worship for devotees of Lord Shiva, is set to undergo a major restoration of its Shivpuri, the sanctum that houses the deity's idol. The temple, known for its architectural blend of traditional Punjabi and North Indian styles, attracts thousands of pilgrims each year, especially during Shivratri.

In a statement to the press, Secretary Arun Khanna confirmed that the renovation work has been approved by the temple’s managing committee and relevant authorities. He indicated that the project will focus on structural reinforcement, cleaning of the stonework, and refurbishment of the inner sanctum to preserve its religious and cultural significance.

The restoration is expected to commence in the coming weeks, with efforts to minimize disruption to daily worship. Officials assured devotees that the temple will remain open for prayers throughout the renovation, and that the upgraded Shivpuri will enhance the spiritual experience for future generations.
