In the recent Gokul milk union director election, the Congress‑backed slate secured 13 seats, while the Mahayuti‑backed list won 12, leaving the remaining seat undecided.
The Gokul milk union director election held on Thursday saw the Congress‑backed panel win 13 of the 25 available seats. The Mahayuti‑backed slate secured 12 seats, while one seat remains unfilled after the voting.
The election, which is a key event for the union’s governance, followed allegations of a takeover plot by the opposition. A minister from the ruling party denied any such conspiracy, stating that the results reflected a fair democratic process.
The outcome means the Congress‑aligned group will hold a majority of the director positions, giving them significant influence over the union’s policy decisions and management. The remaining seat will be filled in a subsequent by‑election.
Observers noted that the close split between the two panels indicates a highly competitive political environment within the union. The election is expected to shape the union’s future direction and its relationship with state authorities.
