The Union Cabinet has sanctioned a ₹4,371 crore, five‑year VISTAR scheme aimed at overhauling India’s statistical infrastructure and boosting data analytics until 2030‑31.
The Union Cabinet has approved a new initiative, the Viksit Bharat Initiative for Statistical Transformation, Analytics and Research (VISTAR), with a budget of ₹4,371 crore.
The scheme, which will run for five years until the financial year 2030‑31, seeks to overhaul the country’s statistical infrastructure and enhance data analytics capabilities.
By modernising data collection, processing and dissemination, VISTAR aims to provide policymakers with timely, accurate information to support evidence‑based decisions.
Implementation will be overseen by the Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation, with a phased rollout and periodic reviews to ensure the objectives are met.
