On the fourth day of the BRICS Sustainable Lifestyle Week, officials and experts gathered to discuss strategies for building resilient and eco‑friendly food systems across the member nations.
The BRICS Sustainable Lifestyle Week, a week‑long initiative by the five member countries, began on a virtual platform and marked its fourth day with a focus on sustainable food systems. Delegates from Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa presented case studies on regenerative agriculture, circular food waste management and local food security, stressing the need for coordinated policy and investment in green technologies.
A panel discussion explored how digital platforms can accelerate the adoption of sustainable diets and reduce the carbon footprint of food supply chains. Participants highlighted success stories from each country, showcasing practical steps toward climate‑resilient food production.
The BRICS Secretariat announced a joint research grant to support projects that promote climate‑resilient farming and equitable food distribution, aiming to strengthen regional food sovereignty and contribute to the UN Sustainable Development Goals.
The week will continue with sessions on sustainable mobility and renewable energy in the coming days.
