Bihar has eliminated the physical verification process for new electricity connections up to 150 kW, requiring users to pay standard fixed fees based on load.
The electricity sector in Bihar has introduced a significant simplification in the process of obtaining new power connections. Authorities have officially discontinued the requirement for physical verification for new connections with a load capacity of up to 150 kilowatts.
Under the revised procedure, consumers are no longer required to undergo an on-site inspection. Instead, they are mandated to pay a standard fee determined by the specific load they require. This change aims to streamline the application process and reduce delays for both residential and commercial users.
The electricity company will now take full responsibility for the infrastructure setup. The utility provider will handle the installation of service wires and the electricity meter, extending the connection from the company premises to the consumer's location.
This move is expected to enhance the ease of doing business and improve access to reliable power supply across the state by removing bureaucratic hurdles associated with site visits.
