Police in Muzaffarpur, Bihar, have registered a case after discovering that Rs 60.57 lakh was illegally siphoned off from the Education Department's online salary payment system (HRMS).

A significant financial irregularity has come to light in Muzaffarpur, Bihar, involving the state Education Department's Human Resource Management System (HRMS). Authorities have alleged that unauthorized manipulation of the online salary payment platform led to the misappropriation of Rs 60,57,158 from the government treasury.

The incident has prompted a formal investigation into how the digital system was compromised. According to the report, the funds were illegally withdrawn through fraudulent entries in the HRMS, which is designed to automate and secure salary disbursements for government employees.

Preliminary inquiries suggest that two individuals may have been involved in orchestrating the breach. Law enforcement agencies are currently scrutinizing the digital footprints and administrative records to trace the flow of the missing funds.

The Education Department has expressed concern over the security lapses that allowed such a large sum to be diverted. The case highlights the vulnerabilities in digital financial systems and the ongoing efforts to strengthen cybersecurity protocols within state administrative departments.
