Garbage collection has halted in Bhopal's New Market and other areas due to a sanitation workers' strike. Workers have warned that cleaning operations will remain suspended during Diwali if their demands are not met.

Sanitation services in Bhopal have come to a standstill ahead of the Diwali festival, with garbage collection suspended in several key commercial areas. The disruption has been most visible in New Market and other major bazaars, where accumulated waste is causing hygiene concerns for residents and shopkeepers.

The halt in operations is the result of a strike launched by sanitation workers. The workforce has cited unmet demands as the primary reason for the industrial action. Despite the festive season approaching, the collection of refuse has not resumed in these affected zones.

In a strong statement, the striking employees have issued a warning to the authorities. They have declared that if their specific demands are not accepted, the sanitation strike will continue even during the Diwali celebrations. This move threatens to leave the city without proper waste management during one of the busiest times of the year.

The situation has raised concerns about the city's readiness for the festival. With garbage piling up in public markets, there is growing pressure on local administration to resolve the dispute and restore normal cleaning services before the holiday period begins.
