Union Home Minister Amit Shah has approved a direct‑benefit‑transfer release of Rs 632 crore aimed at empowering women in Chhattisgarh.

New Delhi – Union Home Minister Amit Shah announced a direct‑benefit‑transfer (DBT) disbursement of Rs 632 crore specifically earmarked for women in Chhattisgarh. The fund, part of the central government’s women‑empowerment initiatives, will be transferred directly to beneficiaries’ bank accounts to ensure timely and transparent delivery.

The scheme is expected to support a range of welfare programmes, including financial inclusion, skill development and health‑related subsidies for women across the state. Officials said the DBT mechanism will reduce leakages and accelerate the impact of existing schemes.

State authorities in Raipur have been instructed to coordinate with banks and local bodies to identify eligible women and complete the transfer process within the stipulated timeline. The move has been welcomed by women's groups, who view the direct cash infusion as a significant step toward economic empowerment.

The announcement underscores the central government's focus on targeted financial assistance for women, aligning with broader national objectives of gender equity and inclusive growth.
