A 6.5-foot gharial was found trapped in a fishing net at Kapur Diara Ghat in Bhagalpur, Bihar, on Sunday morning, drawing a large crowd of onlookers.

A rare incident occurred on Sunday morning at Kapur Diara Ghat in the Babura police station area of Bhagalpur district, Bihar. A gharial, measuring approximately 6.5 feet in length, was discovered entangled in a fishing net deployed in the Ganges river.

The sighting quickly attracted a significant number of locals who gathered at the ghat. Many onlookers were seen attempting to take selfies with the endangered reptile, creating a crowded scene at the riverbank.

The presence of the gharial, a species protected under Indian wildlife laws, highlights the ongoing interaction between local fishing activities and wildlife in the Ganges. Authorities are expected to ensure the safe release of the animal back into the river.
