The West Bengal government has approved a magic school and museum and formed an advisory panel headed by famed magician PC Sorcar Jr.
The state government of West Bengal announced a new initiative to set up a dedicated magic school and a museum showcasing the art of illusion. The project aims to nurture talent, preserve traditional tricks and attract tourists interested in performing arts.
An advisory committee has been constituted to guide the venture, with veteran illusionist PC Sorcar Jr named as chief advisor. The panel is expected to include other renowned magicians who will help shape the curriculum and exhibition content.
Funding for the school and museum will come from the state budget, though the exact location has not yet been disclosed. Officials say the facilities will offer formal training, workshops and a permanent display of historic props and memorabilia.
The move reflects West Bengal's broader strategy to diversify cultural education and promote niche art forms alongside mainstream disciplines.
