Heavy rain forced the Uttar Pradesh government to shut schools across several districts today, even as scheduled examinations are being conducted.
The state government of Uttar Pradesh ordered the closure of schools in a number of districts on Monday after continuous heavy rainfall made travel unsafe for students and staff. Officials cited waterlogging on roads and the risk of flooding as the primary reasons for the shutdown.
Despite the closures, the board overseeing the day's examinations confirmed that the tests will proceed as planned in venues that remain accessible. Students who are unable to reach the exam centres have been advised to contact their respective schools for guidance.
Education department officials are monitoring the situation and will reassess the status of schools tomorrow, depending on weather forecasts and local conditions.
