A 633-meter long, four-lane bridge is being constructed in Ujjain's Freeganj area to manage traffic for the 2028 Kumbh Mela, costing Rs 91.76 crore.
Ujjain is set to see a major infrastructure upgrade with the construction of a new four-lane bridge in the Freeganj area. The project, designed with the 2028 Kumbh Mela in mind, aims to significantly reduce congestion at the Tower Chauraha junction.
The new bridge will measure 633 meters in length and 21.40 meters in width. It will feature a dedicated service road underneath, allowing vehicles to continue moving smoothly even during peak traffic hours. The total estimated cost of this infrastructure project is Rs 91.76 crore.
To enhance road safety and capacity, the design includes 9-meter wide roads on both sides, along with pedestrian footpaths. A central divider will separate the opposing lanes of traffic, ensuring better flow and safety for commuters.
This development is part of broader efforts to modernize Ujjain's road network to handle the massive influx of pilgrims expected during the upcoming Kumbh Mela.
