The Telangana government will let candidates take the learner’s driving licence written exam from home using an AI‑driven platform.
Telangana state authorities announced that aspiring drivers can now sit for the learner's licence written test from their homes, using an artificial‑intelligence based system.
The initiative, rolled out by the Transport Department in collaboration with the eGov platform Elets, seeks to ease congestion at test centres and accelerate the licensing process. The AI tool will verify the candidate’s identity, monitor the exam environment and grade responses in real time.
Officials indicated that the pilot will commence shortly and will be open to all applicants across the state, aligning with the government’s broader digital‑first agenda. The scheme could become a template for other states aiming to modernise their motor‑vehicle services.
Applicants will need a smartphone, internet connectivity and a government‑issued ID, while technical support and a grievance redressal mechanism are being put in place.
