The Supreme Court has directed the Uttar Pradesh police to submit a status report on the assault of four advocates in Ghaziabad and has ordered that the lawyers be provided protection.

The Supreme Court of India issued a directive to the Uttar Pradesh police to furnish a detailed status report on the recent assault that took place in Ghaziabad, where four practising advocates were attacked. The court’s order seeks clarification on the circumstances of the incident, the identity of the perpetrators and the steps taken by the police so far.

In addition to the report, the apex court ordered that immediate protective measures be extended to the four lawyers involved. The protection order includes police surveillance and security personnel to ensure their safety while performing professional duties.

The court’s intervention underscores growing concerns about the safety of legal practitioners in the region and signals a willingness to monitor the case closely. The police are expected to submit the requested report within a stipulated timeframe, after which the Supreme Court will review further actions.
