Three Border Security Force personnel were attacked by smugglers in Tripura, prompting Chief Minister Manik Saha to announce strict measures against the perpetrators.

Border Security Force (BSF) jawans on duty in Tripura were ambushed by a group of smugglers, resulting in injuries to three personnel, officials said. The incident occurred near the state’s border area, where illegal trade activities are common. Local police and BSF units responded promptly, securing the scene and initiating an investigation.

Chief Minister Manik Saha, upon learning of the attack, condemned the act and assured that the state government will take decisive steps to curb smuggling and protect security forces. He directed senior officials to expedite the probe and bring the culprits to justice.

Authorities have heightened surveillance along the border and are coordinating with central agencies to dismantle smuggling networks. The BSF has also been instructed to increase patrols and adopt stricter operational protocols to prevent further attacks.

The incident underscores the persistent challenge of cross‑border smuggling in the Northeast and the risks faced by security personnel tasked with safeguarding the region.
