The Economic Offences Wing has registered an FIR against former officials and a contractor in Singrauli, alleging a Rs 33 lakh discrepancy in the final payment for the Mayar River bridge construction.
A financial irregularity case has emerged in Singrauli, Madhya Pradesh, concerning the final payment for the construction of the Mayar River bridge. Authorities have alleged that a bill originally amounting to Rs 7 lakh was inflated to Rs 40 lakh, resulting in a suspected loss of approximately Rs 33 lakh to the exchequer.
Following an investigation, the Economic Offences Wing has registered a First Information Report (FIR) in the matter. The case involves the former Sub-Divisional Officer (SDO), the Assistant Engineer, and the contractor responsible for the project. The FIR has been filed against these individuals for their alleged roles in the fraudulent billing process.
The incident has raised questions about the verification procedures followed during the final settlement of infrastructure projects in the region. The police are now expected to examine the financial records and documents related to the bridge construction to determine the extent of the misappropriation.
