Former Sri Lankan cricketer Kumar Sangakkara has publicly backed Rajasthan Royals’ all‑rounder Sanju Sooryavanshi for a potential India call‑up, citing his consistent performances in the IPL.
Kumar Sangakkara, who retired from international cricket after a distinguished career, expressed his confidence in Sanju Sooryavanshi’s abilities during a recent interview with DD News. The former Sri Lankan captain highlighted Sooryavanshi’s all‑round contributions for the Rajasthan Royals, noting his ability to bat in the middle order and bowl crucial overs.
Sangakkara’s endorsement comes as India’s selectors review the pool of domestic talent ahead of upcoming international fixtures. He specifically praised Sooryavanshi’s consistency and temperament, suggesting that the player is ready for the next level.
The Rajasthan Royals’ captain and coaching staff have also lauded Sooryavanshi’s form, with the team’s head coach describing him as a “crucial asset” for the side. The player’s recent performances have drawn attention from both fans and analysts.
While no formal call‑up has yet been announced, Sangakkara’s public support is expected to add pressure on the selection committee to consider Sooryavanshi for future India squads.
