As Ranbir Kapoor's Ramayana prepares for release, a review of past adaptations like Adipurush highlights the mixed commercial performance of films based on the epic.
With the upcoming release of Ranbir Kapoor's 'Ramayana', attention has turned to the commercial trajectory of previous cinematic adaptations of the ancient epic. The industry is closely watching how this new entry performs against the backdrop of recent high-profile projects.
A notable reference point is 'Adipurush', a major production that received significant attention before its release. However, its box office journey has been a subject of discussion regarding the viability of large-scale mythological films in the current market.
Historically, films based on the Ramayana have had varied success stories. While some titles achieved cult status, others struggled to recoup their massive production budgets. This pattern suggests that audience reception for such epics can be unpredictable.
As 'Ramayana' enters the theatrical space, it faces the challenge of meeting high expectations while navigating the competitive landscape of Indian cinema. The performance of this new adaptation will likely set a new benchmark for future mythological blockbusters.
