The Rajasthan High Court has issued stringent directives to safeguard natural water bodies, drainage channels and catchment areas within the Pirthivraj Nagar development plan in Ajmer.

The Rajasthan High Court today directed that all development activities under the Pirthivraj Nagar plan in Ajmer must preserve existing natural water bodies, drainage channels and catchment areas. The court emphasized that any encroachment or alteration of these water features would be considered a violation of environmental safeguards. The directive is aimed at preventing waterlogging, maintaining groundwater recharge and protecting local biodiversity.

The Pirthivraj Nagar project, a major urban development initiative, has faced criticism from environmental groups for potential impacts on the region’s water resources. By enforcing these protective measures, the court seeks to balance urban growth with ecological conservation.

Officials of the Ajmer Municipal Corporation have stated they will comply with the court’s orders and will review the project’s environmental impact assessment accordingly. The ruling is expected to set a precedent for future development projects across Rajasthan.
