Punjab is bracing for storms and heavy rain today, with concerns rising over the safety of approximately 34 lakh metric tonnes of paddy stored in open mandis across the state.
The weather in Punjab has taken a significant turn with forecasts predicting storms and rainfall today. This sudden change in weather poses a considerable risk to the vast quantities of paddy currently awaiting procurement in the state's agricultural markets.
Reports indicate that approximately 34 lakh metric tonnes of paddy are exposed in various mandis. The incoming adverse weather conditions, characterized by strong winds and heavy showers, could lead to substantial damage to this grain, impacting farmers and the procurement process.
The alert suggests a potential drop in temperatures as well, accompanying the stormy weather. Authorities and farmers are likely assessing the situation and taking measures to protect the harvested crop from the elements.
